Petey, Our Well-Mannered Dog, Is Getting Better!

Petey is getting so much better! We have so enjoyed him the last few days:) He's played inside with us. He sits in the grass and doesn't dig. He let's me brush him. His personality is coming back - he must have been in shock the first day. He and Jack can play again - but Jack's not getting ran over...actually, now Petey is a bit cautious of Jack.

Petey's Hurt Front Right Leg

So, yesterday morning we were seriously considering giving Petey to a better home...this morning he was working with Brent and suddenly Petey started crying, limping off, and lying on his back. (I wasn't there - Brent just told me) Brent picked him up, looked for blood, then tried to put him back down and Petey wouldn't put his legs down to stand. Brent then realized that one of his legs was hurt...badly hurt...Brent figures that he stepped on it and didn't realize it, because they were on uneven ground. Called the vet, vet said we would bring him in for an x-ray, possibly a cast, consoled Brent that accidents happen...vet said to watch it and bring him in later if it gets worse...before buying Petey we agreed that if he needed any real medical help, he would just go to doggy heaven...we'll see...Jack does really like him... Poor Petey appears to be in pain. However, he seems to be recovering and hobbling better...started hobbling around the house in places he's not allowed...He is a very mellow dog...kind of nice.
